Medical Acupuncture

At THE CLINIC Medical Acupuncture is a therapy used by a Medical Doctor who generally practises conventional medicine but who also has a special interest in this complementary treatment method.
The technique involves the use of needles to stimulate afferent nerves in the body causing a release of the body’s own chemicals which consequently effect pain perception and promote healing. The technique is NOT an alternative to conventional medical treatment but is best used alongside or in some cases after conventional methods have been tried.

The treatment offered at The Clinic differs from "Traditional/Chinese/Eastern" acupuncture. Patients are initially assessed by a qualified medical practitioner and subsequent treatments only carried out when deemed clinically appropriate.
